Andrada Mining Ltd., the former Afritin, has upgraded its mineral resource estimate (MRE) at the Uis Mine in Namibia by 30%. This upgrade was a result of drilling done last year, which increased the measured and indicated lithium resources by 47% to 38 million tonnes. The average grade of lithium also rose to 0.73% Li20 from 0.63%, resulting in a total of 587,000 tonnes of contained tonnage.
The total MRE for the V1/V2 deposit, where the drilling was focused, has increased to 81 million tonnes from 72 million tonnes. The tin grades at the mine also rose, and there was a maiden resource declared for rubidium with a total of 109,400 tonnes at an average grade of 0.14% Rb.
Why it Matters:
The upgrade of the lithium resource at the Uis Mine confirms its significance as a globally important lithium and tin resource. The CEO of Andrada Mining, Anthony Viljoen, stated that the Uis pegmatite swarm has significant untapped potential across the company’s license area.
The commissioning of a lithium pilot plant is scheduled for the second quarter, and the company plans to investigate the other proximal pegmatites at Uis to move towards an exploration target of 200 million tonnes. The updated MRE highlights the potential for further exploration and development of the Uis Mine, which could have a positive impact on Andrada Mining’s operations and overall financial performance.
