Galan Lithium Advances Construction at Hombre Muerto West for 2025 Lithium Production

Galan Lithium has announced significant progress in the construction of the Hombre Muerto West (HMW) Phase 1 lithium brine project, aligning with its target to commence lithium chloride production in the first half of 2025.

Phase 1 Construction Progressing Smoothly

Key developments in the project include:

– Pond 1 construction nearing completion, currently at an 85% completion rate.

– Operational on-site laboratory for continuous lithium assaying.

– The lining crew set to begin work on Pond 1, with installation starting before the year’s end.

– Filling of Pond 1 is anticipated to begin in Q1 2024, with the evaporation process expected to start in the upcoming summer.

– Initiation of Pond 2 construction is projected before the end of this year.

Phased Approach to Lithium Production

Galan Lithium has outlined a multi-phase strategy for the HMW project:

– The initial Phase 1 targets the production of 5.4ktpa LCE (lithium carbonate equivalent) of lithium chloride concentrate by H1 2025.

– Phase 2 aims to increase production to 21ktpa LCE in 2026.

– Subsequent phases include increasing production to 40ktpa LCE by 2028 (Phase 3) and 60ktpa LCE by 2030 (Phase 4).

– Phase 4 also plans to incorporate lithium brine from Galan’s Candelas project, another 100% owned venture in Argentina. icon
