Gekko Systems Facilitates Commencement of Tungsten Production at Dolphin Mine

Gekko Systems has reached a significant milestone as it oversees the initiation of commercial tungsten production at the Dolphin Tungsten Mine on King Island.

Group 6 Metals (G6M) engaged Gekko Systems to design, procure, and construct a mineral processing plant dedicated to tungsten recovery at the Dolphin Mine located on King Island. Gekko’s engineering team collaborated closely with G6M to develop the process flowsheet, and by mid-2023, the processing plant successfully achieved commercial production. It operates around the clock to process tungsten, a critical mineral with wide-ranging applications in industries such as steelmaking, mining, construction, electronics, and defense.

The installation and commissioning of the Dolphin Mine processing plant were carried out by skilled workers, primarily hailing from regional areas in Tasmania and Victoria.

Andrew Edmondston, CEO of Gekko Systems, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We take great pride in the attainment of commercial production at the Dolphin Mine Processing Plant on King Island. This project stands as a remarkable achievement for Gekko, G6M, and the entire team involved. The processing plant will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in ensuring a sustainable supply of tungsten, supporting numerous industries reliant on this critical mineral.”
