Global Alumina Production Drops 4.4% in April

Global alumina production decreased by 4.4% in April to 11.55 million tons from 12.09 million tons in March, according to the International Aluminium Institute. Compared to the same period last year, production fell by 0.6% from 11.63 million tons.

The average daily global alumina production dropped to 385,133 tons in April from 389,903 tons in March.

China contributed approximately 58.2% of global alumina production in April, with an output of 6.72 million tons, down 3.2% from 6.94 million tons in March.

In Oceania, alumina output declined to 1.48 million tons in April from 1.54 million tons in March. In Africa and Asia, excluding China, production fell to 997,000 tons from 1.23 million tons in March. European production decreased to 607,000 tons in April from 628,000 tons in March, while South America’s output slightly increased to 1.03 million tons from 1.02 million tons the previous month.

Global primary aluminum production also saw a decline, falling by 3.2% in April to 5.90 million tons from 6.10 million tons in March. icon
