Grid Battery Metals has finished the initial phase of its spring and summer exploration program at the Clayton Valley Lithium Property near Silver Peak, Nevada. This phase included detailed infill soil sampling and a Magnetotelluric (MT) geophysical survey.
The company engaged Rangefront Geological to perform the infill soil sampling in the southern section of the claim block and to oversee the MT geophysical survey conducted by KLM Geoscience. These efforts are part of a methodical approach to identify geological structures and potential lithium deposits. The soil samples have been sent to the assay lab for analysis.
The MT survey, overseen by Grid’s Qualified Professional Steven McMillin, covered eleven profiles and provided insights into subsurface resistivity and geology. The survey results, mapped at depths of 250m, 500m, and 750m, identified a major northeast fault bisecting the claim block, which could serve as a fluid conduit at depth.
Grid President and CEO Tim Fernback indicated that the company will use the geological data and assay results to plan the next steps, likely involving the creation of a 3D Leapfrog model to pinpoint additional drilling targets and a subsequent drilling program later in the year to assess the lithium-bearing claystone depth.
Previous exploration at the Clayton Valley Lithium Project included a soil sampling program and an initial drilling program consisting of three reverse circulation holes. These efforts aimed to test the presence of lithium-bearing clay in the lakebed sediments and provided valuable data for the current phase of exploration.
The Clayton Valley project is situated near North America’s only lithium brine producer, Albemarle Corporation’s Silver Peak Mine. Neighboring projects, such as Century Lithium’s recent positive feasibility study, highlight the potential of the region. However, results from adjacent properties do not necessarily indicate similar findings on Grid’s property.
