Iranian investor interested in building metallurgical plant in Syunik

Iranian Alvand Mining and Mineral Industries CJSC is interested in the construction of a copper cathode plant in the Syunik region of Armenia.

Trade attaché of Armenia to Iran Vardan Kostanyan and representatives of other interested departments attended the meeting. A preliminary plan to establish a cathode plant for copper processing in Syunik was discussed, according to the Ministry of Economy’s press service. Stressing the importance of bilateral cooperation in this sphere, Teryan expressed readiness to support the development and implementation of joint programmes within the competence of the ministry.

Serious deposits of copper, molybdenum, lead and other precious metals are located in the Syunik region of Armenia, in the south of the country bordering Iran and Azerbaijan. In particular, in Kajaran town Zangezour Copper-Molybdenum Combine – one of the biggest industrial enterprises of the republic, leader of 1000 tax payers list for many years is functioning.
