The production of copper cathode in Iran increased by 5 percent, or 5,000 tons, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 20 through July 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), according to a statement from Iran’s National Company of Copper Industry, Trend reports.
During this period, Iran’s National Copper Industries Company produced 100,000 tons of copper cathode, up from 95,000 tons in the corresponding period of the previous year.
In addition, the company produced 98 million tons of copper mineral in the four-month period, representing a 13 percent increase, or 11 million tons more than the 87 million tons produced in the same period last year.
The National Copper Industry Company also reported digging more than 164,000 meters in four months, an increase of 35 percent, or 41,000 meters more than the 123,000 meters of excavation work carried out during the same period last year.
Moreover, the company produced over 449,000 tons of copper concentrate in the same timeframe.
According to the National Company of Copper Industry of Iran, the country’s copper reserves amount to 19 billion tons. The Sarcheshmeh and Sungun mines are considered the main copper mines in Iran.
