Namibia Critical Metals, a TSX-listed company, has announced significant updates to the mineral resource estimate for its Lofdal Heavy Rare Earth Project in Namibia. Following a comprehensive infill drilling campaign completed in 2023, the company reported an increase in combined measured and indicated mineral resources from 44.8 million tonnes at 0.17% total rare earth oxides (TREO) to 58.5 million tonnes at 0.16% TREO.
This update also highlights a notable rise in the contained tonnages of dysprosium and terbium oxides, which are among the most valuable heavy rare earth elements. Specifically, dysprosium oxide content has risen by 11%, reaching 4,503 tonnes, and terbium oxide by 12%, amounting to 693 tonnes in the measured and indicated categories. Additionally, the inferred resources saw a 38% and 39% increase in dysprosium and terbium oxides, respectively.
Darrin Campbell, President of Namibia Critical Metals, expressed satisfaction with these outcomes, emphasizing the global significance of the Lofdal project. “With just under 11,000 metres of drilling last year, we have increased the overall contained rare earth tonnage by an impressive 37%. The measured and indicated resource shells at Lofdal 2B and 4 contain over 4,500 tonnes of dysprosium oxide and over 690 tonnes of terbium oxide, which clearly establishes Lofdal as a globally significant heavy rare earth deposit,” Campbell stated.
