New Rusal Plant in Khakassia to Create 500 Jobs and Boost Aluminum Production

Rusal and the Government of the Republic of Khakassia have signed an agreement at the 27th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum to implement new investment projects in the region. The agreement was signed by Valentin Konovalov, Head of the Republic of Khakassia, and Evgeny Nikitin, Rusal’s CEO.

Under the agreement, Rusal will establish a new production facility in Khakassia with an annual capacity of over 46,000 tons of aluminum foil and ribbon. The plant, featuring unique rolling equipment valued at over $300 million, will create approximately 500 new jobs. The new facility will be located near the Rusal Sayanal foil rolling plant, and the Khakassian government will support the project by developing the necessary infrastructure.

Evgeny Nikitin emphasized the importance of contributing to the economic development of Khakassia, improving residents’ welfare, and creating high-tech industries. He noted that the new foil rolling plant would be one of Russia’s largest projects for processing primary aluminum and producing aluminum products. The proximity to the Sayanogorsk aluminum smelter will help ensure a low carbon footprint for the final products. icon
