Nornickel Fortifies IT Infrastructure with Strategic Alliances with Russian Software Developers

Nornickel is pivoting towards Russian tech expertise, partnering with RED SOFT and Bazalt SPO to bolster its IT infrastructure with local software solutions. This strategic shift is in response to the departure of foreign tech companies from Russia, prompting Nornickel to explore local alternatives for essential IT services, including operating systems and network management tools.

The collaboration was kickstarted during demo events in Moscow and Norilsk, where Russian tech providers showcased their capabilities. These partnerships aim to enhance Nornickel’s IT autonomy by integrating Russian digital products and co-developing new solutions, particularly focusing on security-enhanced operating systems.

Liana Ermishina, Nornickel’s IT Vice President, highlighted the strategic importance of transitioning to locally sourced software, emphasizing the role of Nornickel’s specialists in testing and deploying these solutions to ensure a smooth and risk-minimized implementation process.

RED SOFT and Bazalt SPO, the chosen partners, are notable players in the Russian IT landscape. RED SOFT specializes in data storage and management projects, leveraging its proprietary software, while Bazalt SPO is known for its Alt operating systems, designed for a range of applications from workstations to servers and virtual infrastructures. This collaboration marks a significant step towards Nornickel’s goal of achieving technological self-sufficiency in its IT operations. icon
