Nornickel announced it will commission the repaired furnace at the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant (NMZ) in Russia three days ahead of schedule. The company revealed this update via its official Telegram channel, highlighting the expedited pace of construction and installation work at NMZ. The new furnace is set to be heated up on July 16, marking a record time for this type of work.
Currently, 78.1% of the repair work has been completed. To accelerate the renovation process, Nornickel increased the number of specialists on-site and employed advanced equipment, including remote-controlled demolition robots, unique welding machines, and electrically driven mechanized lifting devices.
By the end of this week, the installation of an additional three kilometers of copper pipeline and cable lines will be completed, after which the company will prepare for equipment commissioning.
In May, Nornickel announced the largest-scale repair project of the year, involving the replacement of one of the two furnaces at the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant. The entire repair, including peripheral equipment, is scheduled to take 60 days and cost 30 billion rubles.
