Novelis to Extend Supply of Aluminum Products to Airbus

Novelis has announced an extension of its long-standing contract with Airbus. The two companies have been collaborating for over three decades.

The extended contract emphasizes Novelis’ commitment to provide Airbus with aluminum products, particularly for the A320 aircraft family. The products include sheets, plates, and specifically wing skins, which are stressed products demanding precise pre-machining and specialized alloys in adherence to stringent aircraft industry standards.

Steve Fisher, CEO of Novelis, stated their intention to further develop products at their Koblenz and Zhenjiang locations. Johan Petry, vice president of aerospace and industrial plates at Novelis, highlighted the company’s proficiency in offering high-quality aluminum products, noting the capabilities of their Zhenjiang facility in meeting the requirements for wing skins.

The unique position of Novelis as the sole supplier producing aluminum flat rolled products for the aerospace sector in both Europe and Asia further cements their authority in the field. Both the Zhenjiang and Koblenz facilities possess the essential certifications to cater fully to the aerospace sector.
