Québec Nickel to begin winter 2023 drilling programme at Ducros project in Québec

Québec Nickel Corp. has announced that its winter 2023 drilling programme will begin within the next ten days at the Ducros nickel-copper-platinum group elements (Ni–Cu–PGE) project in Québec. The mineral exploration company has raised over USD 8.5 million in financing to complete a total of 20,000 metres of drilling at the Fortin Sill Zone, Ducros Ultramafic Sill Complex and Ducros Gabbro targets. The 2023 drilling contract has been awarded to Val-d’Or-based Orbit Garant Drilling Inc., which will supply up to three diamond drills throughout the year. The company said that drilling at the Fortin Sill Zone is focused on the continued evaluation and expansion of the Ni–Cu–PGE-mineralized mafic to ultramafic intrusion, as well as the testing and exploration of the updated geological model.

Why it matters: Québec Nickel is a mineral exploration company focused on acquiring, exploring and developing nickel projects in Québec, Canada. The company is particularly interested in the Ducros project as it has seen “exceptional drilling results” at the Fortin Sill Zone and has many other Ni–Cu–PGE targets across the property. The drilling programme will also test numerous high-priority geophysical anomalies derived from the integration and 3D modelling of the geophysical surveys completed during the 2022 exploration programme at Ducros, including the VTEM, drone-based magnetics and FALCON airborne gravity gradiometer (AGG) surveys. This could potentially lead to the discovery of new mineralized zones and the expansion of the known zones, which will be beneficial for the company’s future exploration and development plans.
