World Gold Council Appoints Neal Froneman as Chair

The World Gold Council has named Neal Froneman as its new Chair. Froneman has served as the CEO and an Executive Director of Sibanye-Stillwater for over 10 years. During his tenure, Sibanye-Stillwater expanded its operations from a South African gold producer to a multi-national diversified mining and processing business with assets on five continents. The company has also established a position in Platinum Group Metals recycling and tailings reprocessing.

In addition to Froneman’s appointment, NiĆ«l Pretorius, CEO of DRDGOLD, has been brought on as a new Director of the Board. DRDGOLD specializes in the large-scale retreatment of mine dumps and tailings dams, a process that both extracts gold and reclaims land for other uses.

These appointments come as the World Gold Council seeks to diversify its board’s experience and industry contributions.
