Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba) has unveiled a novel aluminium alloy, the 6060.HE, expanding its AA6060 aluminium alloy product line designed for aluminium extrusions.
Developed through a partnership involving the University of Bahrain and Bahrain Aluminium Extrusion Company (BALEXCO), this new alloy incorporates scientific research from the University and leverages BALEXCO's experience as a prominent regional aluminium extruder. The collaboration encompassed field trials, technical input, and research-based insights.
Alba's CEO, Ali Al Baqali, expressed the significance of the new alloy in enhancing performance and productivity for customers. He emphasized that the partnership between Alba, the University of Bahrain, and BALEXCO exemplified the "Collaboration and Partnerships" dimension of Alba's ESG Roadmap.
Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, the President of the University of Bahrain, highlighted the mutual benefits of this cooperation, as the study focused on enhancing aluminium extrusion processes and discovering new alloys to elevate the quality and performance of extruded products. He stressed that the study's results would propel future scientific research within the aluminium industry.
Jassim Seyadi, Chairman of BALEXCO, emphasized the positive impact of the newly developed alloy, noting Alba's supportive role throughout development and trials. He underlined the improved extrusion speed, production efficiency, and product quality made possible by these billets, expressing enthusiasm for further advancements that could benefit all clients of Alba's extrusion services.
