Aurubis, a major copper producer based in Germany, has announced the commencement of expansion works at its plant in Bulgaria. The expansion includes the installation of new electrolytic facilities, which will increase the plant's production capacity from the current 230,000 tons to 340,000 tons per year. The project involves an investment of 120 million euros and is expected to be operational in the second half of 2026.

Additionally, Aurubis has started construction on a new photovoltaic power generation facility at the same location. This facility, scheduled for completion in 2026, is designed to supply 15% of the plant's electricity needs from solar energy, enhancing the sustainability of operations.
