Blue Solutions, a subsidiary of the Bolloré Group, will construct a large battery factory in Alsace by 2030. This gigafactory will produce solid-state lithium-metal batteries for new-generation electric vehicles, creating 1,500 jobs and involving an investment of over 2.2 billion euros across the Grand Est and Brittany regions.
The announcement, made on May 17 in a joint press release from the Bolloré Group, the Grand Est and Brittany regions, and the French Ministry of the Economy, marks a significant development in the French automotive industry. Franck Leroy, President of the Grand Est Region, highlighted that this project positions Alsace as a leader in automotive innovation and contributes to French and European sovereignty in the sector.
Aligned with France's 2030 objective to produce nearly 2 million electrified vehicles annually, this initiative is a key component of the national battery strategy. It aims to enhance France's competitive edge and ensure the future of its automotive industry, which includes over 4,000 companies and 400,000 jobs.
