De Nora Forms Strategic Partnership with Mangrove Lithium to Advance Energy Storage Market

February 15, 2024

Industrie De Nora announced a new partnership with Mangrove Lithium, a Canadian firm renowned for its electrochemical lithium refining. The collaboration, revealed on February 15, 2024, underscores De Nora's commitment to strengthening its presence in the energy storage sector and supporting advancements in lithium electrolysis processes critical for sustainable energy development.

Through this partnership, De Nora will supply its CECHLO systems to Mangrove Lithium, which will utilize these electrochemical technologies in its patented Clear-LiTM technology process. This innovative approach aims to refine lithium from both mining operations and recycled batteries for new battery production, addressing significant bottlenecks in the lithium supply chain. The use of De Nora's CECHLO electrolyser, traditionally employed in chlorine production, will now be adapted for lithium production and recovery, promoting a sustainable cycle for this vital metal and supporting the widespread adoption of electric vehicles by reducing costs and enhancing raw material availability.

Mangrove Lithium's collaboration with De Nora represents a significant milestone, showcasing the versatility of De Nora's technologies to meet diverse market demands. Mangrove, which serves a global clientele across the lithium battery production spectrum, including extractors, manufacturers, and battery recyclers, aims to leverage this technology to become a leader in the battery material production markets in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia.

Mangrove CEO, Saad Dara, praised the collaboration with De Nora, emphasizing the importance of delivering high-quality and reliable technology to their customers. Dara's remarks followed a visit to De Nora's facilities in Japan, where Mangrove's team was impressed by De Nora's meticulous attention to detail, expertise, and extensive experience.
