Full Circle Lithium Successfully Completes Modular Demonstration Plant Phase and Advances to Commercial Stage

January 29, 2024

Full Circle Lithium, a USA-based lithium products manufacturer and recycler, achieves a milestone as it concludes the modular demonstration phase of its lithium extraction and processing plant for a global specialty chemical company.

FCL has successfully completed the demonstration phase with its initial client, a global specialty chemical company, showcasing the effectiveness of its proprietary direct lithium extraction technology (DLE). The modular processing plant, deployed at the client's chemical facility, demonstrated the extraction of lithium from the client's waste stream. Notably, FCL's plant, driven by DLE, achieved over 99% extraction of previously lost lithium from the client's effluent stream. The resulting lithium product met the client's stringent purity specifications, positioning it for purchase by the global specialty chemical company.

Following the demonstration, the plant is now back at FCL's Georgia headquarters for refurbishment and expansion, transitioning it into a commercial-scale unit. This strategic move aligns with FCL's commitment to advancing towards full commercial deployment and revenue generation. The upcoming steps involve providing the client with a large sample of qualified lithium product for testing in their commercial plant and finalizing a definitive agreement, both of which are currently in progress.

"This is a major de-risking milestone for our new company as we have demonstrated that our robust lithium extraction and processing technology works at scale in a real-life deployed setting," commented Carlos Vicens, CEO, Director, and Founder of FCL. "Making qualified lithium product for our first client gets us closer to near-term deployment of a commercial-scale plant and revenue generation, which we believe will be a first for a North American lithium technology start-up. This achievement also opens the door to a number of other potential clients as they assess our technology and ability to execute at a commercial scale."
