April 24, 2024

Hammerer Aluminium Industries, in partnership with LS Cable & System, has commenced the construction of a new production hall in Gumi, South Korea. The ceremony marking the beginning of this construction took place on April 17, 2024, signifying a major step in their joint venture.

The new facility, which involves an investment of 46 million euros, will span 13,800 square meters and include advanced manufacturing equipment such as a 60 MN press. This setup is designed to produce aluminium components primarily for electric vehicles. Production at the Gumi site is scheduled to begin in 2025, aiming to cater to the South Korean market.

This initiative is part of Hammerer Aluminium Industries' broader strategy to enhance its production capabilities for highly complex aluminium components, particularly for the electromobility sector. The Gumi production hall is strategically located in the Gyeongsangbuk-do province, which is central to South Korea's industrial hub.

The groundbreaking event was attended by notable executives from both companies, including Rob van Gils, CEO of Hammerer Aluminium Industries, Markus Schober, COO, and Peter Blatt, Strategic Investment Manager. Representing LS Cable & System was CEO Bon-Kyu Koo, who also participated in the ceremony.
