The Castilla-La Mancha Government has bestowed Priority Project status on Hydro Aluminium's forthcoming aluminum recycling facility in Torija, Guadalajara. This distinction, highlighted in the Official Gazette of Castilla-La Mancha, underscores the project's significant contribution to the region's economic, social, and environmental landscape, with a notable investment of 143.3 million euros.
Owned by the Norwegian multinational Norsk Hydro, known for its comprehensive involvement in the aluminum sector, Hydro Aluminium's new plant is celebrated for its commitment to environmental sustainability and its potential to drive regional development. The facility aims to specialize in recycling both pre-consumer and post-consumer aluminum scrap, converting it into extruded aluminum billets through eco-friendly processes.
The Torija recycling plant is anticipated to generate 65 direct and 105 indirect employment opportunities upon commencement, bolstering the local job market. This initiative aligns with Hydro Aluminium's longstanding presence in the region, notably at Azuqueca de Henares since 2000, where it has established itself as a leader in Spain's aluminum billet production and commercialization.
