Lithium de France Secures New Exploration License in Northern Alsace

February 20, 2024

Lithium de France, a subsidiary of the Arverne Group, has been granted a new exploration license for lithium and associated substances in Northern Alsace. The license, named "Les Poteries Minérales," encompasses an area of 151 square kilometers in the Bas-Rhin region of France. This latest development, as announced in the French Journal Officiel on 16 February 2024, marks the fourth license awarded to Lithium de France within a span of two years.

Lithium de France has been proactive in the region, launching numerous subsurface studies and exploration campaigns under its initial licenses, which have successfully mapped significant portions of the subsoil. The Arverne Group aims to integrate the entire value chain, employing innovative processes to synergize the production of local renewable heat via geothermal energy with the extraction and processing of geothermal lithium, primarily for the electric car industry.

With this new license, the Arverne Group strengthens its commitment to contributing to France's energy transition. Its portfolio now boasts 9 exclusive research licenses, covering over 2,000 square kilometers across three French regions: Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and Grand Est. This portfolio includes 7 licenses for geothermal energy and 2 for lithium exploration.
