Ionway Poland has announced plans to establish a new factory in Nysa, Opolskie Voivodeship, dedicated to producing battery components for electric vehicles. The facility, which is expected to be operational by August 30, 2025, will focus on manufacturing active cathode materials (CAM), a crucial component in electric vehicle batteries.
This development is a significant boost to the local economy, promising to create approximately 900 jobs in the region. The new plant will supply CAMs, which are composed of vital metals such as nickel, lithium, manganese, and cobalt, essential for the battery industry.
The construction of the factory will be undertaken by Pekabex Bet, a subsidiary of Pekabex, which has secured the contract valued at nearly PLN 318.8 million. This contract represents 19 percent of the Pekabex Group's revenue based on their 2022 financial statements, where they reported earnings of PLN 1.678 billion.
Pekabex, a veteran in the construction industry with over 50 years of experience and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2015, is well-equipped for this project. The company specializes in system construction utilizing prefabrication technology for reinforced concrete elements and has completed more than 430 construction contracts last year alone. Pekabex operates five factories across Poland and one in Marktzeuln, Germany, employing over 2,000 staff.
