Rio Tinto Reports Mixed Q1 Production Results, Maintains 2024 Guidance

Rio Tinto reported its first quarter aluminum production for 2024, revealing mixed outcomes. The company produced 826,000 tonnes of aluminum, marking a 5% increase from the previous quarter but a 2% decrease compared to the same quarter last year. Despite these fluctuations, Rio Tinto has affirmed its aluminum production forecast for 2024, aiming to produce between 3.2 and 3.4 million tonnes.

In terms of bauxite production, the figures showed an 11% increase from the previous quarter, reaching 13.4 million tons. However, this represents an 11% decline from the same period last year. The company has set its bauxite production target for 2024 at 53 to 56 million tons, slightly varying from the 54.6 million tons produced in 2023.
