Savannah Resources Appoints Emanuel Proença as Executive Director

Savannah Resources has officially appointed Mr. Emanuel Proença to its Board of Directors as an Executive Director following his successful six-month probation period as Chief Executive Officer. His appointment takes effect from April 15, 2024. In conjunction with his appointment, Mr. Proença has chosen to receive his fixed 2023 bonus in the form of company shares instead of cash.

Under Mr. Proença’s leadership, Savannah Resources, which is developing Europe's largest spodumene lithium deposit in Portugal, has navigated a particularly challenging period. Matthew King, Chairman of Savannah, praised Mr. Proença for his exceptional management skills and strategic appointments within the company, which have significantly enhanced operational progress at the Barroso Lithium Project. Mr. King expressed confidence in Mr. Proença’s ability to manage the project to the highest standards of technical quality while minimizing environmental impacts on local communities.

Mr. Proença commented on his role, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Barroso Lithium Project not only to the region and its people but also to Europe's broader goal of reducing dependency on external sources of lithium. He shared his commitment to advancing the project and contributing to Europe’s energy transition.

Emanuel Proença is recognized for his expertise in the energy transition in mobility, with a strong background in green fuels, electrification of mobility, and industrial development in Portugal. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Master's degree in industrial engineering and management from Instituto Superior Técnico in Portugal.
