Trailbreaker Resources, a Vancouver-based company, has announced entering into an option agreement to acquire full ownership of the Liberty property, a 2,071-hectare land in central British Columbia (BC). This property, approximately 60 km northwest of Quesnel, BC, is accessible via a network of forest service roads and is known for its copper-molybdenum (Cu-Mo) porphyry target.

Highlights of the Liberty Property

  • Target: The property is marked by a strong porphyry target, evident through Induced Polarization (IP) chargeability and Cu-Mo±Gold (Au)±Silver (Ag) soil and rock geochemical anomalies located at the edge of a Mesozoic granitic pluton.
  • Potential: Exhibits multiple mineralization styles, including porphyry-style and associated skarn mineralization.
  • Historical Drilling: Previous drilling in the 1960s by Rio Tinto to the south of the current IP and geochemical anomaly showed promising results, including an assay of 123.1 m at 0.11% Cu and 0.04% MoS2.
  • Underexplored: Despite identified geophysical and geochemical anomalies in the 2010s, the area remains untested by drilling.
  • Accessibility: The property is fully accessible year-round due to low annual precipitation and a well-developed network of forestry service roads.

Exploration Value and Strategy

  • Trailbreaker has the option to fully acquire the Liberty project under a value-focused agreement. Daithi Mac Gearailt, President of Trailbreaker, expressed enthusiasm about adding the Liberty project to their portfolio, citing its unexplored potential and strong porphyry characteristics.

Geology and Exploration Prospects

  • The Liberty property is situated in the Cache Creek Terrane, known for hosting significant calc-alkaline porphyry Cu-Mo deposits like Canada’s second-largest open-pit copper mine, the Gibraltar Mine. The region’s geological framework includes a poly-phase granitic to dioritic pluton intruding into sedimentary rocks of the Cache Creek Complex.
  • The primary exploration target is a northwest-trending Cu-Mo±Au±Ag mobile metal ion (MMI) soil anomaly, overlapping a moderate to strong IP chargeability feature. Historic trenching and Rio Tinto’s exploration indicate potential for a Cu-Mo porphyry-style system, marking this as a high-priority exploration target.
