Anglo American Platinum to Complete Demerger from Anglo American PLC by 2025
Anglo American Platinum has confirmed plans to finalize its demerger from Anglo American PLC by 2025, according to a company spokesperson. The company also announced intentions for a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.
"We are assessing the best options for protecting all shareholders and in particular, to mitigate the risk of flowback, we are considering a secondary listing of Anglo American Platinum on the London Stock Exchange," the spokesperson said.
This move is part of Anglo American's broader strategy to restructure its portfolio following a takeover approach from BHP Group. The restructuring involves divesting from platinum, coal, and diamond assets while retaining businesses in copper, iron ore, and crop nutrients.
"In terms of timing, we have also said that we plan to execute our demergers and divestments by the end of 2025," the spokesperson added.
