Iran’s Aluminium Ingot Production Rises Slightly in First Five Months of Year

Iran produced 264,617 tonnes of aluminium ingots in the first five months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-August 21), according to data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Reconstruction Organization (IMIDRO). This marks a slight increase of 1% compared to the same period last year.

The production increase was driven by the country's four largest aluminium producers: Southern Aluminium Corporation (SALCO), Iran Aluminium Company (IRALCO), Almahdi Aluminum Company, and Iran Alumina Company. SALCO led production with 111,521 tonnes, followed by IRALCO with 73,182 tonnes, Almahdi Aluminum Company with 65,295 tonnes, and Iran Alumina Company with 14,619 tonnes.

In addition to aluminium ingots, Iran Alumina Company produced 96,685 tonnes of alumina powder, 163,096 tonnes of aluminium hydrate, and 284,828 tonnes of bauxite during the period.

Last year, Iran produced over 635,000 tonnes of aluminium ingots, with production increasing slightly despite energy constraints. The total output a year earlier was around 632,000 tonnes, positioning Iran as the world's 18th largest aluminium producer. Iranian officials estimate the value of the aluminium sector at $22 billion, which is sufficient to meet domestic demand.
