Kam Kiu Aluminium to Invest $100 Million in Vietnamese Plant for Tech Parts
Kam Kiu Aluminium Products Group, headquartered in Hong Kong, has announced plans to invest $100 million in an aluminum plant in Vietnam's northern province of Nam Dinh. This facility will be the company's first overseas investment.
Harley Lei, a company executive, revealed that the plant will span 12-20 hectares in the My Thuan Industrial Park. The facility is slated to produce aluminum components for electronic devices, smart gadgets like phones, displays, speakers, watches, and automotive parts. Kam Kiu's client list includes major tech firms such as Apple, Samsung, Dell, Volkswagen, Lenovo, Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, BYD, and Microsoft.
The group aims to commence operations at the plant by May 2025. To meet this timeline, Lei requested that provincial authorities expedite administrative processes and ensure the availability of essential services such as electricity, liquefied natural gas, and water. Kam Kiu has pledged to use advanced technology in the new facility.
Nam Dinh's Party chief, Pham Gia Tuc, has directed relevant authorities to facilitate the project's progress, assuring that the investment registration license will be issued within 36 hours of complete application submission.
Established in 1983, Kam Kiu Aluminium Products Group operates a plant in Guangdong, China, and has offices in Macau, New Zealand, and North America.
Nam Dinh province attracted $116 million in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the first half of this year, a 51% decline year-on-year. Meanwhile, Hong Kong was the third-largest FDI provider for Vietnam during this period, with a registered amount of $1.73 billion, marking an 83.8% increase year-on-year.
