Jiangxi Copper Partners with Danieli Frohling for Plant Expansion

January 23, 2024

Jiangxi Copper, China's prominent copper cathode producer and supplier of various copper products, has selected Danieli Frohling's technology and equipment for its plant expansion in Nanchang, Jiangxi, China. This partnership signifies a major advancement in the company's production capabilities.

The investment by Jiangxi Copper aims to boost its annual production capacity by approximately 15,000 tons for copper flat products. This expansion will primarily serve the copper and copper-alloy foil and thin-strip market, catering to the growing demand in these sectors.

Danieli Frohling will supply a new, state-of-the-art 20-high reversing mill for this expansion. This mill is designed to roll copper and copper alloys from an entry thickness of 0.8 mm down to a minimum finish thickness of 0.03 mm, accommodating a maximum strip width of 450 mm.

Advanced Features of the Mill

- The mill will be a twin-housing type, equipped with Danieli's proprietary intermediate roll double-bending system. This system is engineered to enhance strip flatness.

- It will also feature direct hydraulic roll-gap control to ensure high-precision thickness performance.

- The mill is versatile, capable of using a wide range of work roll diameters, from 37 to 80 mm, to achieve efficient and economical rolling performance.

Manufacturing and Automation Systems

- The core equipment of the new mill will be manufactured, assembled, and pre-tested at Danieli’s headquarters workshops.

- The electrical and automation components will incorporate advanced solutions from Danieli Automation, including the HiPAC automation system for real-time, automatic thickness and flatness control.

Danieli will also provide advisory services for the erection and commissioning activities as part of the supply agreement.
