Kingston Resources Commences Open Pit Mining at Pearse North
Kingston Resources has begun open pit mining at the Pearse North site, with the initial blast occurring on June 11. The first batch of oxide ore has been delivered to the ROM pad, marking a significant milestone for the company. This development comes three weeks after completing the tailings retreatment project. The restart of hard rock mining at Mineral Hill, which ceased in 2016 under previous ownership, aligns with Kingston's goal of becoming a major regional producer.
Kingston's plant refurbishment program is on schedule, with plans to start treating open pit oxide ore in July. Ore is already being stockpiled on the ROM pad in preparation. The company is committed to local hiring and procurement, ensuring the benefits of Mineral Hill's success remain within the region. Over the past three weeks, 15 new employees have joined the mining, processing, and geology sections at Mineral Hill, most of whom are local residents of the Lachlan Shire. An additional 13 hires are expected in June and July. During the transition from tailings to open pit mining, Kingston expanded its training programs, offering registered training in Certificate III in Resource Processing or Surface Extraction for its operators.
Kingston Resources Managing Director and CEO, Andrew Corbett, expressed his satisfaction with the progress: "We are delighted to announce the commencement of open pit mining at Pearse North, a major step forward for the Mineral Hill project. The safe reintroduction of drilling and blasting operations and the start of mining activities are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team. The Pearse North and Pearse South open pits will mark the beginning of our return to hard rock mining at Mineral Hill, and we look forward to continuing to develop this project and delivering value to our shareholders."
