Norsk Hydro to Invest $85 Million in New Aluminum Casting Line in Kentucky

June 18, 2024

Norsk Hydro announced an $85 million investment in a new aluminum casting line at its secondary aluminum production plant in Henderson, Kentucky. The project, supported by tax incentives from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Agency, is scheduled to become operational in 2026.

The new line will utilize HyForge technology, enhancing the plant's capacity by 28,000 tons. This upgrade aims to better serve the local market's demand for small-sized, high-quality aluminum billets, essential for manufacturing high-quality automotive parts.

Company president Eivind Kallevik highlighted that the new line will increase the use of aluminum scrap, offering significant environmental benefits for both the company and its partners.
