Rio Tinto Reports Stable Q2 2024 Aluminum Production and Positive Bauxite Output
Rio Tinto's aluminum production for the second quarter of 2024 remained stable at 824,000 tonnes, consistent with the previous quarter and marking a 1% increase from the same period last year. The company reaffirmed its annual aluminum production guidance for 2024, aiming to produce between 3.2 and 3.4 million tonnes.
In its production update released on Tuesday, Rio Tinto also highlighted its strong bauxite output. The company produced 14.2 million tonnes of bauxite in the first quarter of 2024, reflecting a 10% increase from the previous quarter and a 9% rise compared to the same quarter in the previous year. For 2024, Rio Tinto maintains its bauxite production forecast at 53-56 million tonnes, slightly above the 54.6 million tonnes produced in 2023.
