Trafigura Expected to Appoint Richard Holtum as New CEO

September 23, 2024

Commodity trading giant Trafigura is set to name Richard Holtum as its new chief executive, according to a report from the Financial Times on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter. Holtum, who currently leads Trafigura’s gas, power, and renewables division, has seen a swift rise within the company since joining from Glencore in 2014.

Holtum’s appointment comes as current CEO Jeremy Weir prepares to transition into the role of chairman, as reported by Reuters in April. A spokesperson for Trafigura declined to comment on the leadership change.

Holtum, a former British military officer, will be taking over one of the world’s largest commodity trading firms, a significant move in the energy and trading sectors.
