Aluminium Bahrain Partners with Daiki Aluminium to Launch Sustainable Dross Processing Business

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), the world’s largest single-site aluminium smelter, has formed a strategic partnership with Japan’s Daiki Aluminium Industry Company to establish a sustainable aluminium dross processing facility in Bahrain. The collaboration aims to enhance the recycling and sustainability of aluminium production in the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at Alba’s premises, attended by Alba’s CEO Ali Al Baqali and senior executives from both companies, including Daiki Aluminium’s Chairman Yamamoto Takaaki. This venture reinforces the strong economic ties between Bahrain and Japan, focusing on sustainable industrial practices.

The partnership will leverage Alba’s expertise in aluminium production and Daiki Aluminium’s advanced recycling technologies to recover valuable aluminium metal from dross, significantly reducing waste. This initiative aligns with Bahrain’s environmental goals and Alba’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Roadmap by promoting circular economy principles.

Ali Al Baqali, CEO of Alba, highlighted the partnership’s importance in advancing sustainability efforts: “This strategic alliance with Daiki Aluminium marks a pivotal moment in Alba’s sustainability journey. By harnessing Daiki Aluminium’s technological prowess, we are not only optimising our operations but also contributing to Bahrain’s economic landscape.”

Yamamoto Takaaki, Chairman of Daiki Aluminium, expressed confidence in the collaboration’s potential: “With the signing of this MoU, we will build on our global partnership and help Alba and the Kingdom of Bahrain achieve their sustainable environmental goals. We are very proud to form a strategic alliance with Alba and are confident that this partnership will make a significant contribution to the development of a sustainable aluminum industry.”

By focusing on recycling and reducing waste, the partnership between Alba and Daiki Aluminium seeks to create lasting value for stakeholders and contribute to a more sustainable future for the aluminium industry. icon
