Emirates Global Aluminium and Egyptian Government to Launch $3bn Aluminium Plant

In a significant move to bolster Egypt's non-oil industry, UAE-based Emirates Global Aluminium, in partnership with Egypt's Ministry of Public Enterprises, plans to establish a $3 billion aluminium plant in northern Egypt. According to ministry sources cited by the local press, the deal is anticipated to be officially announced within the coming weeks. The plant aims to achieve an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons, marking a substantial addition to Egypt's industrial capabilities.

Simultaneously, Egypt is engaging in discussions with Aluminium Bahrain regarding the establishment of a bauxite production facility in Ras Ghareb, located by the Red Sea. Bauxite serves as the principal raw material for aluminium production, indicating a strategic move to enhance Egypt's position in the global aluminium supply chain.
