Lithium Battery Production Surges in April, Led by Lithium Carbonate Output
April witnessed a significant uptick in the production of lithium batteries, marking an approximate 10% increase from the previous month, as reported by market research from GGII. This surge is on the heels of a marked recovery in battery and positive electrode production in March, surpassing January's production levels.
Notably, the production rate of upstream lithium carbonate has been a key driver of this growth, with major enterprises seeing over a 25% increase in production compared to March. The leading producers in this segment have achieved an impressive near 70% monthly production growth rate, highlighting a considerable variance within the industry's internal production rates.
The battery and negative electrode segments also experienced robust production growth, with major enterprises recording nearly a 15% month-on-month increase in April. However, the negative electrode sector is anticipated to be the only segment where a year-on-year decline in production scheduling is expected.
