Aluminium Duffel Launches New Logo and Commissions New Milling Installation

Aluminium Duffel has officially commissioned its new €26 million milling installation, capable of processing up to 400,000 tonnes of aluminium annually. This investment marks a significant step for the company, allowing it to handle the milling of its aluminium slabs in-house, particularly those required by the automotive sector. Previously, some of the slabs were processed at an external facility in Koblenz.

The new milling installation cleans the top and bottom surfaces of aluminium rolling blocks by removing a layer, making the slabs ready for the rolling process. According to Koen Libbrecht, General Manager of Aluminium Duffel, this internal capability grants the company greater independence and supports its sustainability goals by improving the efficiency of the milling process.

Construction of the 2500m² production hall for the installation began in December 2022, with the project completed in approximately a year. The first slab was milled on September 25, 2023, during a ceremony attended by Duffel’s mayor, Sofie Joosen, alongside industry leaders such as Bart Steukers, CEO of Agoria, and Paul Voss of the European Aluminium Association.

In addition to this technological advancement, Aluminium Duffel has also unveiled a new logo, designed as a heraldic shield, which reflects the company's core values of "Change & Courage," "People & Power," and "Excellence & Teamwork." The new brand slogan, "Mind over metal," emphasizes the company's focus on purpose-driven production and highlights the contributions of its employees.

Koen Libbrecht noted, "Our new brand identity is a tribute to the resilience and dedication of our team, who have helped the company navigate challenges such as acquisitions and the energy crisis in recent years. This strong symbol represents our commitment to our customers and stakeholders."
