Ball Corporation Acquires Alucan to Expand European Aerosol Packaging
Ball Corporation has acquired Alucan, a European producer of extruded aluminium aerosol and bottle products. The acquisition, completed on October 31, includes manufacturing facilities in Llinars del Vallés, Spain, and Lummen, Belgium. The acquisition aims to increase Ball's production capacity and meet growing demand for sustainable packaging in Europe.
The new facilities will allow Ball to expand its aluminium packaging production capabilities, particularly for aerosol and bottle products. Both facilities are equipped with technology designed to minimise environmental impact, aligning with Ball's sustainability objectives.
Jay Billings, President of Ball Growth Ventures, stated that Alucan's expertise in aerosol and bottle production will enhance Ball's capacity to serve customers and accelerate the development of sustainable products.
The acquisition will also expand Ball's product line, including large-diameter aerosol cans and impact-extruded bottles, enhancing offerings for reusable and refillable bottles. This acquisition broadens Ball's market presence in personal and home care products and creates opportunities for cross-selling with food and beverage manufacturers.
Ball also plans to reduce the carbon footprint of Alucan's products by lightweighting cans and increasing recycled material usage. The location of the new facilities is expected to optimise logistics and reduce CO2 emissions.
