Vedanta Reports 3% Rise in Aluminium Production for July-September Quarter

Vedanta announced that its aluminium production for the July-September period totaled 609,000 tonnes, marking a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. The company’s total aluminium production in the first half of the current financial year reached 1.21 million tonnes, also reflecting a 3% year-on-year growth.

During the September quarter, alumina production from Vedanta’s Lanjigarh refinery reached 499,000 tonnes, up 8% year-on-year, although down 7% from the previous quarter. For the first half of the year, alumina output at Lanjigarh totaled 1.04 million tonnes, a significant 21% increase driven by improvements in operational efficiency.

In the zinc sector, production of mined metal at Zinc India was 256,000 tonnes, up 2% compared to the same period last year. The output of integrated saleable metal, including zinc and lead, rose by 8% year-on-year to 262,000 tonnes, remaining unchanged from the previous quarter. However, production from Vedanta’s overseas zinc operations fell by 34% year-on-year to 44,000 tonnes.

Vedanta's steel production dropped by 22% year-on-year to 296,000 tonnes in the second quarter. The company’s power sales during this period amounted to 4,322 million units, reflecting a 7% increase from last year but a 10% decline from the previous quarter. The production of saleable iron ore was 1.3 dry metric tonnes, up 7% year-on-year.
