Alupco Signs Agreement to Supply Aluminum for Jeddah Tower Project

October 17, 2024

Aluminium Products Company (Alupco) has signed an agreement with United Arab Aluminum Company (UAAC) to supply aluminum for the Jeddah Tower project, according to a LinkedIn post by Alupco, a leading aluminum extrusion company in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Once completed, Jeddah Tower will stand over one kilometer tall, making it the tallest building in the world. Earlier this month, Kingdom Holding Company (KHC) announced that Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) would soon resume construction work on the tower, which is part of the Jeddah Economic Company City project.

The agreement with Saudi Binladin Group was sealed by Jeddah Economic Company, a subsidiary of KHC, during a key ceremony held on October 2, as reported by Gulf Construction. Construction on the tower began in the early 2010s, with SBG serving as the initial contractor for the superstructure. Approximately one-third of the tower's superstructure was completed during the initial phase.

Jeddah Tower is being developed as part of the first phase of the 5.3-million-square-meter Jeddah Economic Company City. To date, 63 out of the planned 157 floors have been completed. The total contract value for the tower is SAR 7.2 billion ($1.96 billion), of which around SAR 1.1 billion has already been paid to SBG for previously completed work.

The anticipated construction period for the remainder of the project is 42 months. Jeddah Economic Company will finance the ongoing construction through internal funding and banking facilities.

Headquartered in Dammam, with an additional plant in Jeddah, Alupco has a production capacity exceeding 85,000 metric tons per year.
