China’s LFP Production Increases Amid Steady Automotive and Energy Storage Demand

November 12, 2024

In October, China's production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) rose by 7.8% month-on-month (MoM), reaching a total of 251,700 tonnes. This growth was supported by stable demand from the automotive market and expanding energy storage needs both domestically and internationally. LFP batteries are increasingly used in electric vehicles (EVs) and large-scale energy storage solutions, driving consistent production increases.

Looking ahead to November, it is expected that China's LFP production will rise by an additional 4.5% to approximately 263,000 tonnes. This growth is anticipated to be driven by policy support for vehicle trade-in programs and a surge in energy storage installations connected to the power grid. As China continues to focus on renewable energy and sustainability initiatives, the production of LFP batteries is likely to see steady gains.
