Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Set to House One of the World’s Largest Copper Concentrators
FLSmidth and Enter Engineering have signed a cooperation agreement for the supply of core mineral processing equipment for the MOF-4 copper-gold-molybdenum concentrator, currently under construction in Almalyk, located in Uzbekistan's Tashkent region. Once completed, the plant is expected to be among the largest copper concentrators in the world.
The agreement, estimated to be worth around DKK 1.5 billion over the next several years, includes the delivery of essential mineral processing equipment and services, covering basic engineering work as well. Individual orders under this agreement will be disclosed in line with FLSmidth's standard policies.
Enter Engineering selected FLSmidth as a strategic partner due to its proven ability to deliver efficient technologies and aftermarket services while focusing on minimizing environmental impact. Under the agreement, FLSmidth will provide a range of mineral processing equipment, including High-Pressure Grinding Rolls (HPGRs), copper and molybdenum flotation units, vertical re-grind mills, thickeners, concentrate filters, gravity concentrators, as well as various pumps, cyclones, and valves.
The execution of these orders will be managed by FLSmidth's Global Product & Technology Centre in Salt Lake City, with support from localized resources and services.
“Uzbekistan is undergoing rapid economic development, and its mining industry is a key driver of that growth. We are thrilled to support the country’s progress through our collaboration with Enter Engineering and Almalyk MMC on this copper concentrator project,” said Mikko Keto, CEO of FLSmidth. “Being chosen as the strategic partner underscores the strength of our complete flowsheet offerings and our proven global execution capabilities.”
