Dangsheng Technology Advances European New Materials Project with Key Permit Approval
Dangsheng Technology has announced significant progress in its European new materials industrial base project following the approval of an environmental permit by the Finnish government. This development marks an essential milestone in the company's efforts to establish a major production base in Finland.
The project’s first phase, involving a planned annual production capacity of 60,000 tons of high-nickel cathode materials, received an investment decision in August 2023. In March 2024, Dangsheng Technology registered Dangsheng Technology (Finland) New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary responsible for investment, construction, and operations at the European base. Dangsheng Technology holds a 70% stake in the subsidiary, with the Finnish Minerals Group owning the remaining 30%.
The industrial base, located in Kotka, Finland, is expected to require a total investment of €774 million. Construction plans include a lithium anode multi-material production line and supporting facilities designed to produce high-nickel materials such as NCM811/NCA, with additional capabilities for NCM523 and NCM622. The environmental permit application for the first 60,000-ton production line was submitted in May 2024. The permit was officially issued on October 29 and concluded its publicity period without any complaints on December 5, 2024.
This progress allows Dangsheng Technology to advance the implementation of the project’s construction phases. The facility is poised to enhance the supply of critical battery materials as the demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy solutions continues to rise.
