Ganfeng Lithium Begins Production at Mali’s Goulamina Project

Ganfeng Lithium Group has commenced production at the first phase of its Goulamina spodumene project in southern Mali. The project, one of Africa’s largest lithium mines, has an annual production capacity of 506,000 tons of lithium concentrate.

Situated on a 100-square-kilometer site, the Goulamina project boasts a total explored ore resource of 211 million tons, equivalent to approximately 7.14 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE), with an average lithium oxide grade of 1.37%. This positions it as a significant contributor to the global lithium supply.

Ganfeng stated that with the first phase operational, efforts will focus on accelerating production ramp-up, enhancing the company’s competitive edge in the global market. The company views the project as a critical step in solidifying its role in meeting growing demand for lithium, driven by the energy transition and electric vehicle markets.
