LiqTech Secures Order for Lithium Brine Filtration System in the US

November 14, 2024

LiqTech International, a high-tech filtration technology company, announced today that it has received an order from a leading technology company for lithium brine production in the United States. This order marks a significant step in the company's efforts to expand its specialized filtration products into the lithium extraction market.

The growth of electric vehicles (EVs) necessitates a substantial increase in lithium production, as lithium remains a crucial component in batteries due to its high energy density and fast-charging capabilities. Traditional methods of lithium production face limitations in terms of scalability and environmental compliance. Lithium brine resources hold a significant portion of global lithium reserves, but a lack of scalable extraction technology has previously hindered their development. One promising solution is ion exchange, where LiqTech's ultrafiltration (UF) membrane filtration technology serves as an effective pre-treatment to enhance the downstream ion exchange process.

Fei Chen, CEO of LiqTech, expressed enthusiasm about the new commercial order, stating, "In the past months, we have conducted a couple of small-scale tests at customer sites in the U.S. and illustrated the superior performance of our UF membrane filtration technology for lithium brine production. This order provides a unique opportunity for LiqTech to demonstrate the robustness and efficiency of our UF technology in challenging onsite situations. We look forward to meeting the requirements of this customer and exploring the significant opportunities it can bring to both parties over time."

The new filtration system is scheduled for delivery to the customer in the fourth quarter of 2024.
