Anson Resources Secures Key Approval for Lithium Extraction at Green River Project
Anson Resources Limited has received a pivotal approval from the State of Utah, Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Rights, for water (brine) extraction at its Green River Lithium Project. This marks the company’s first approval related to large-scale lithium production in Utah.
Key Details:
- The approval allows for the non-consumptive use of brine at a rate of 0.54 cubic meters per second.
- Anson's process involves extracting lithium from the brine and then returning it to the same geological formation, ensuring the water resources are not depleted.
- The permit is a significant step forward for Anson Resources, paving the way for sustainable lithium production at Green River.
This permit is especially crucial as it supports the company’s operations without negatively impacting local water resources. Anson Resources is also awaiting a decision on an Underground Injection Control (UIC) Technical Report for a “UIC Class 5 Spent Brine Return” Well, which is under review by the Utah Division of Water Quality.
Anson’s Green River Lithium Project stands to contribute significantly to the lithium market, crucial for the growing demand for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage solutions.
