European Energy Metals Concludes Initial Lithium Exploration in Finland
Progress in Lithium Exploration
European Energy Metals has finished its first phase of lithium exploration in Central Finland. The July to October program entailed reconnaissance prospecting, geological mapping, and investigation of known and potential lithium-cesium-tantalum (LCT) type pegmatites. The fieldwork identified multiple pegmatites and pegmatite swarms, including spodumene-bearing pegmatite boulders. A total of 1,099 rock chip samples were collected from the extensive 250,000-hectare project area, with assay results anticipated shortly.
Exploration Licenses and Forward Planning
Following these encouraging findings, European Energy has applied for Exploration Licenses covering 4,550 hectares within the larger 11,690-hectare Nabba Reservation. The proposed Nabba and Nabba 2 ELs, adjacent to Sibanye-Stillwater's Keliber Projects, will facilitate advanced exploration like detailed sampling, trenching, and drilling.
Regional Lithium Potential
The Nabba ELs are strategically located near Keliber’s Spodumene Concentrator Plant and the Emmes Deposit, rich in Li-spodumene pegmatites. The nearby investment of €600 million by Sibanye-Stillwater and the Finnish Minerals Group in various mining operations and a lithium hydroxide plant in Kokkola will form a comprehensive spodumene pegmatite lithium supply chain.
Company’s Strategic Vision
Focused on the Lithium-Cesium-Tantalum Finnish Pegmatite Project, European Energy Metals aims to support Europe and Finland's environmental and energy independence policies, emphasizing lithium. The company's concessions, located near the under-construction Keliber mine and complex, are well-placed to contribute to the region's lithium supply. CEO Jeremy Poirier noted the exploration program's success in advancing towards securing exploration licenses.
