European Metals Holdings Announces Breakthrough in Lithium Hydroxide Production
European Metals Holdings has successfully completed a crucial phase in its development efforts by producing lithium hydroxide monohydrate from the pregnant leach solution generated in its larger-scale Cinovec pilot program. This achievement marks a significant step forward in the company's endeavors to establish an industrial-scale Lithium Chemical Plant (LCP) capable of producing both lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide.
The recent pilot program has demonstrated the feasibility of the LCP's process flowsheet for the production of battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate. The process involved converting crude lithium carbonate obtained during the pilot into exceptionally clean, battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate at a laboratory scale. Furthermore, the ore processed in the pilot program is fully representative of the expected output for the first seven years of mining at the Cinovec site, covering average grade and rock-type mix anticipated from bulk mining operations.
The LCP flowsheet's capability to produce a high purity lithium sulphate solution, which can be further processed into either lithium carbonate or hydroxide, underscores European Metals' commitment to supporting the growing demand for battery-grade lithium products.
