Si6 Metals Expands Portfolio with Acquisition of Exploration Licenses in Brazil

April 29, 2024

Si6 Metals has successfully acquired a 50% interest in 10 exploration licenses, encompassing approximately 17,000 hectares across Brazil, from Foxfire Metals Pty Ltd. This strategic acquisition diversifies Si6's asset base into critical and strategic minerals, notably rare earth elements (REE) and lithium.

The acquired projects include:

  • Three REE licenses within the REE-rich Poços de Caldas Alkaline Complex in southern Minas Gerais, positioned close to projects by Meteoric Resources NL and Viridis Mining and Minerals Limited.
  • Three lithium licenses in the renowned "Lithium Valley" in northern Minas Gerais, an area celebrated for its substantial lithium spodumene resources. Notable developments in this region include discoveries by Latin Resources, SIGMA Lithium Corporation, and recent acquisitions by Rio Tinto.
  • One license in Amazonas state, adjacent to Brazilian Critical Minerals' significant rare earth clay deposit, which boasts one of the world's largest fully ionic clay rare earth deposits with a JORC 2023 Inferred Mineral Resource Estimate of 1.02 billion tonnes at 793 ppm TREO, including a higher-grade portion of 331 million tonnes at 977 ppm TREO.

Additionally, an initial surface sampling program at the Caldera South Project along the contact zone of the Poços de Caldas Alkaline Complex has confirmed REE mineralization in saprolite clay up to 12 meters thick. Comprehensive geochemical sampling programs have been completed at the Caldera South, Caldera, and Padre Paraiso projects, with results from SGS laboratories pending.
